Skincare Obsession: Glossier
No way could I start a beauty blog and not talk about Glossier! Into the Gloss has been a daily must-read for me since it launched in 2010, so you can imagine my joy when it's founder announced that she was starting her own skincare brand - Glossier. I've always appreciated ITG's "skin first, makeup second" approach to beauty [that's actually their slogan!] and that's exactly what you get in their well-edited product collection - simple, to-the-point products that work and give you that "I woke up like this" glow. Don't even get me started on how much I love the packaging. Now, Glossier recently launched some color cosmetics [which I love], but today we're going to talk skincare since these four products have become regulars in my daily routine...
First up is the latest skincare addition to the brand - Milky Jelly Cleanser. It's exactly what the name implies - a jelly texture with a milky white color. As the not-so-proud owner of impossibly sensitive eyes, I find a lot of cleansers and makeup removers really irritating. Not so with Milky Jelly. The cleansing agent in Milky Jelly is actually the same ingredient used in contact lens solution, so - miracle of all miracles - it doesn't bother my eyes at all. I can rub this on a dry face at the end of the day, smush it around to loosen my makeup, add a little water, rinse, and my skin is left clean, soothed and nicely hydrated. The extra bonus is the light fresh scent courtesy of rose water. All in all, it's cleanser perfection.
The Soothing Face Mist always follows cleanser for me. It's a rose water spray with aloe and glycerin, so it's hydrating and calming, and it makes your face smell like a gorgeous garden of fresh flowers. Great as a post cleanse mist, but equally great as a little pick-me-up throughout the day to wake me up and freshen my makeup.
Priming Moisturizer. This stuff is great because the skin just soaks it up. It's super hydrating without that shiny "I just put cream on my face" look; perfect for going barefaced or as a base for makeup. I also love that it's buildable. I can layer it on dry patches and it never feels heavy. Now if they just had a night cream version...
And, finally, my favorite little multitasker - Balm Dotcom. I love to use this is as a highlighter of sorts after moisturizer; I pat a little just above my cheekbones and below my brows for a dewy glow. The consistency is nice and thick, so it stays put and my skin gradually absorbs it throughout the day leaving my eye area really hydrated. I also use it as lip balm, cuticle cream, to smooth flyways in my hair...I think I have about 4 tubes of this stuff, so it's always nearby. If you try one Glossier product, make it this one. There's a coconut version too, which I haven't tried yet, but I hear it smells like heaven/vacation in a tube, so will definitely have to snag that next time I order.
Overall, I'm really happy with Glossier's whole line. All the products are effective, easy to use, and just so darn cute! Have you tried Glossier? Let me know what you think in the comments below!
